In the home fur industry where the Nordic style is popular, have you heard too many “minimalist”, “sexuality” and “Less is more”? In fact, until the early 20th century, modern industry officially established its status in Northern Europe, and Nordic talents began. Try to combine traditional crafts with modern industry. “Sexual cold wind” is the product of contemporary design to continue to enlarge “industrial”, not the original intention of Nordic design, not all.

Due to the cold winter and short nights, the Nordic people have to look forward to indoors and naturally are willing to spend more time and money on home design. In the face of extremely cold natural conditions, “warm”, “soft” and “comfortable” are the key words that Nordic people have been pursuing when designing their home.

Wooden dining tables, fabric sofas, leather upholstery, plush carpets, goose feather pillows... these seem to have become the standard for a Nordic style home improvement, and the choice of these soft materials reflects the true meaning of Nordic design - seeking "warm ".

In Finland, there is a luminaire manufacturer called Secto, which has received many letters from users in the past few years – they complain that there are no luminaires on the market that match the furniture – the common luminaires are usually made of stainless steel or glass. Hard and cold. This is incompatible with the rest of the home's soft and comfortable furniture – these are not really “nordic tonal” products!

So, Secto's designers began to think about how to design a luminaire that perfectly matches Nordic furniture. How to make a lamp have the most original and pure "northic tonality"?

The answer is - wood . Warm yellow tones, light weight, gentle touch and up to 50% of the forest coverage in the area - wood, is undoubtedly the best choice for Nordic people to create a "warm feeling". Especially the birch in the Finnish region - no nodules, smooth cut surface, good glue, very suitable for hand-made.

As Secto founder Tuula Jusélius put it: “The forest is extremely important to the Finns, it gives us shelter and sustains our existence. The birch forest has a noble and mysterious magic that makes you willing to spend a whole day in it. The time is not the nodule of birch is also the best choice for Secto lamps. I hope that our lamps can bring warmth and comfort to your home like a birch forest."

However, this idea is not so easy to achieve.

In the early years, Finnish architect Alvar Aalto developed the "bendable wood" technique in an innovative way, molding the birch into a smooth curve to create a sensational streamlined wooden chair.

However, the use of "bendable wood" technology for luminaire production is a more difficult creation - after all, the wood used for luminaires needs to be smaller, more refined and slimmer; how to use wood to combine round lights The shape is also a big test.

Seppo Koho, the architect of Secto, who also came from an architect, solved this problem perfectly – pressing birch into plywood, then cutting and grinding the plywood into thin slats with special techniques – finally glued the slats Bonded to the traits of the rings of aircraft plywood to complete the circle.

More importantly, the whole lamp is completely made by artificial hand from model production to molding. The products are certified by PEFC (Forest Certification System) , which affirms their superior sustainability and environmental protection.

A series of complicated procedures, combined with the sincerity of the Nordic people, create a beautiful work:
