Semtech Corporation and MultiPhy Ltd, two leading innovators in high-bandwidth communications based on digital signal processing (DSP), have joined forces to showcase groundbreaking 100G single-wavelength technology. This advanced solution, which leverages industry-leading PHY/PMD chipsets, supports both 100G Ethernet and CPRI optical modules, offering a new standard for high-speed data transmission. The companies will demonstrate this technology during OFC 2018 by running more than 2 kilometers of optical links, marking a major milestone in the evolution of next-generation networking.
The demonstration features multiple 2km links utilizing Semtech’s FiberEdge™ chipset and MultiPhy’s FlexPhy device to drive EML optics. Key components include Semtech’s FiberEdge GN1860 EML driver, known for its high output swing and linearity, along with the GN3289 Linear Optical Receiver Sub-Module (ROSA) and GN1089 High Performance Low Noise Linear Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA). Combined with MultiPhy’s FlexPhy platform, this solution offers a complete and cost-effective approach to achieving 100G single-wavelength interconnects.

MultiPhy’s FlexPhy platform is designed to deliver high performance while maintaining low power consumption. It uses advanced signal processing to convert a 4x25Gbps NRZ CAUI4 host bus into a single 100G PAM4 IO pair on the line side. The device is available in a compact BGA package with an optimized high-speed IO layout, making it ideal for use in QSFP28 modules.
