Symantec Corporation also announced the release of Veritas Storage Foundation enhancements, which can optimize the migration process and enable storage space regeneration to achieve a thin provisioning (Thin Provisioning) storage environment for higher performance. Storage Foundation uses a cross-platform streamlined and optimized file system, and provides a unique online storage migration solution, which can help customers make full use of existing storage investment without additional investment to purchase new storage equipment. Symantec also announced the Veritas Thin Reclamation API, which allows thin storage arrays to automatically reclaim storage space.
In addition, Symantec and Dell announced the All-in-One data protection solution. The Dell PowerVault DL2000 backup-to-disk hardware device is a complete software and hardware protection solution, which contains the installed Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 and is specially developed for Dell computers. The standardized disk management allows users to more easily manage the backup from a single console to the disk environment.
