Tianlong Optoelectronics' first MOCVD will be delivered at the end of the month

The delivery progress of Tianlong Optoelectronics' first MOCVD equipment has been receiving much attention in the industry. "The company will ship to customers at the end of this month, and will start equipment installation and commissioning on the user side next month." On October 22, Tian Long Optoelectronics Secretary Lu Song revealed.

A month ago, Tianlong Optoelectronics announced that the company's MOCVD equipment process assessment verification and epitaxial process development have achieved significant stage results, and the process technology has also met customer assessment requirements. On September 11, Jiangsu Zhongsheng, a subsidiary of Tianlong Optoelectronics, signed a MOCVD equipment sales contract with a customer for the first time through a wholly-owned subsidiary, Zhongsheng Optoelectronics Equipment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

In fact, since 2011, many companies including Guangdong Zhaoxin, Esprit, Ideal New Energy, Zhongke Hongwei, Qingdao Jiesheng, etc. have announced the launch of the first domestically produced MOCVD. Research institutes such as the Institute of Materials Science and Technology, Nanchang University have also issued MOCVD R & D plans. So far, nearly 20 companies and research teams in mainland China have announced their involvement in the research and development of MOCVD equipment technology.

At present, except for Esprit, no company in mainland China has developed MOCVD that can be mass-produced. If Tianlong Optoelectronics can successfully debug this equipment, it will become the second manufacturer in China that can actually mass-produce MOCVD equipment.

Chen Yixin, general manager of Esprit, said that Tianlong Optoelectronics signed an order for MOCVD equipment with downstream customers, which does not mean that their technology has matured, but that the MOCVD equipment representing Tianlong Optoelectronics has transitioned from R & D and production to market development.

"The key is to see the results of debugging." Chen Yixin said that since domestic MOCVD equipment has not undergone a long market test like Veeco in the United States and Aixtron in Germany, it is still difficult to determine whether the domestic technology is mature. She revealed that the commissioning period of general domestic equipment will be relatively long, which takes about 3-5 months, including software, hardware and other aspects that need to be repeatedly debugged.

Chen Yixin also revealed that the MOCVD equipment previously provided by Esprit to Qianzhao Optoelectronics is still in the commissioning period, and customers have reported good results. She said that she is very optimistic about the market prospects of domestic MOCVD equipment, not only price advantage, but also localized services.

At present, China's MOCVD equipment is basically monopolized by foreign countries, and there are many restrictions on the research and development and manufacture of LED products. If the LED industry wants to achieve long-term development, it must get rid of foreign control of products. Now China's MOCVD equipment has also begun to develop.
