In order to alleviate the oversupply of small and medium-sized panels, AUO, Chi Mei and CPT have transferred some of their small and medium-sized panel production to the production of OLED, electronic paper and touch panels.
AUO has used its 3.5-generation low-temperature polysilicon production line for the production of AMOLED panels, which was over-completed at the end of the third quarter and trial production began at the end of this year.
Another panel maker, Chi Mei, used its 4.5-generation line for touch panel production and is shipping a TFT bac kend panel to Yuantai for electronic paper production.
CPT recently stated that they are using 70% of their 4.5 generation line in North Taiwan for touch sensors and projected capacitive touch panels.
