Recently, GT Solar International, Inc. (SOLR) announced that it has established a new Asian operations headquarters in Hong Kong.
According to GT Solar executives, more than 85% of the company's business comes from Asia, and most of its customers are from China. The establishment of the Asian headquarters will respond more effectively to the needs of local customers and continue to provide the high quality products and high level of support they expect from GT Solar.
At the same time, the company also announced that the new generation DSS crystal growth furnace DSS650TM has begun trial production evaluation with customers. The new system provides an upgrade solution for customers currently using the DSS 240TM, DSS450TM and DSS450HPTM systems in their production environments. The DSS650 is capable of producing more than 600 kilograms of silicon ingots, compatible with the furnace configuration of current DSS systems. The new system is expected to be commercially available in early 2011.
