Veeco Instruments Inc., a MOCVD equipment manufacturer, announced its third quarter of 2009 after the US stock market on the 26th: revenue fell 15% to $98.9 million; earnings per share reached $0.16. According to a survey by Thomson Reuters, analysts originally expected Veeco's July-September revenue and earnings per share to be $86.4 million and $0.01.

Veeco also announced that it will raise its 2009 revenue forecast range from the original forecast of $310.25 billion to $3.53-3.63 billion.
Veeco said that the amount of orders received in the third quarter ($226 million) hit a record high, with $179 million (80% of total orders) being LED & Solar related equipment. John R. Peeler, CEO of Veeco, pointed out that LED manufacturers including China, Taiwan and South Korea have significantly increased their production capacity to meet customer needs, making Veeco's TurboDisc MOCVD equipment hot. Just yesterday, the company announced that it has received orders for TurboDisc MOCVD equipment from China's LED chip maker Xiamen Sanan OptoElectronics.
Veeco fell 1.92% in the normal session on the 26th, closing at 25.07 US dollars; after the market rose 4.91% to 26.30 US dollars. (Editor: Happy)
