Abstract: The MCP41010 digital potentiometer plays a crucial role in the design of the snubber constant current source circuit, allowing for dynamic adjustment of the stimulus current supplied to the human body. This ensures that the current adapts to the varying tolerance levels of individuals to the stimulation. In this section, we discuss the operational principles and key features of the MCP41010 digital potentiometer developed by Microchip. Additionally, we explore the instruction word format of the MCP41010. Within the constant current source circuit, the MCP41010 functions as the emitter resistor. The I/O port of the AVR microcontroller AT90S8535 is connected to the MCP41010, and the microcontroller program mimics the SPI bus timing of the MCP41010 to adjust its resistance accordingly. Experimental results confirm that the MCP41010 performs exceptionally well.

0 Introduction
The MCP41010 is an integrated digital potentiometer manufactured by Microchip. It combines a 10 kΩ digital potentiometer onto a single chip, featuring 256 discrete adjustment nodes. Additionally, it includes an 8-bit E2PROM data register that directly controls the position of the slider on the potentiometer’s wiper. Users can write 8-bit words into the data register via the corresponding instructions, achieving an adjustment precision of up to 256 steps.
