Hello everyone, another year has passed, and it's time to share my thoughts again! Thank you for considering this product worth purchasing. Special thanks to the measurement team for handing over this old projector to Laoji. Jiji decided to move the projector to a newly built studio to showcase its "qualities." However, as always, the projector is still in its early stages. If the lighting conditions aren't ideal, please bear with us.
Here's what I'll cover:
1. Appearance and details evaluation
2. Actual usage experience with the projector, mobile phone app, and projector UI interface
3. Brightness and sharpness tests
4. Experience with the intelligent voice assistant function
5. Summary and Expectations
First, let's talk about the appearance and details. For those familiar with the older models, you’ll know that judging a product solely from photos can be misleading. Seeing it in person is essential, and every detail matters. Money well spent often translates to better quality. Let's dive in!
The projector comes with all the necessary Accessories. Accessories include a remote control and a transformer. The transformer outputs a voltage of [insert voltage here]. These details might seem minor, but they’re important for functionality.
Now, let’s check out the main body. It looks like a brushed metal panel, but it’s actually made of resin. It’s not very large, roughly half the size of a 15.6-inch laptop. The lens is cleverly hidden inside the body, protecting it from damage. This design isn’t just aesthetic; during testing, the projector fell from a height onto the basement tiles, and there wasn’t even a scratch—just a slight scratch on the resin casing.
There are only two buttons on the device: a small power button and a larger focus adjustment button. Unlike older projectors, this one uses electronic focusing instead of a manual knob.
At the bottom, there’s a radiator. When the projector is in use, the bulb generates significant heat, so proper ventilation is crucial. The nameplate provides key information such as the product model and serial number.
The back of the projector includes a headphone jack, USB port, and HDMI input. This makes it not just an internet-connected Android projector but also compatible with computers or USB drives for offline use. Additionally, there’s a stereo speaker on the side for immersive audio.
Now, let’s move on to the actual usage experience. Setting it up was straightforward. First, download the accompanying app, then follow the instructions to connect via Wi-Fi. If you're using a guest network, ensure both the projector and your phone are connected to the same management account Wi-Fi.
After connecting, the app serves as a remote control. There’s a sound adjustment feature, and to the right of it is a screenshot button. To demonstrate the interface, I’ll take a screenshot for a clearer view.
Downloading apps like TV Cat is simple. Unfortunately, due to policy restrictions, STBs cannot directly install third-party apps. While some STB remotes have hidden features or allow USB installations, this can be cumbersome for some users. The included app simplifies the process significantly.
The main interface is clean and user-friendly. Using the app’s screenshot function, you can get a detailed view of everything. Holding down the menu button on the remote brings up system settings where you can adjust various parameters like zoom ratio.
After installing TV Cat, you can rearrange apps by holding down the confirm button. Moving apps like TV Cat to the top of the page makes them easier to access. Signing up for a 3-month micro whale membership gives access to all movies and TV shows in the built-in app.
The update speed is impressive, and while the Platinum VIP supports 4K playback, this projector is limited to 800P. Switching to a 4K source results in automatic downscaling, which affects the visual quality.
Regarding performance, the loading times were a bit slow due to the basement Wi-Fi not being optimal. However, the projector can also stream content from your phone, making it versatile.
Now, let’s talk about brightness and sharpness. I tested the projector in three scenarios: with lights on, lights off, and with curtains open. The projector’s 1200 lumens perform well even in moderately lit rooms.
Switching to a 4K video source results in noticeable differences in clarity. Even at 800P, the details are acceptable for everyday use. The projector can also project content from your phone, though there’s a slight delay when casting videos.
The projector’s voice assistant is impressive. Pressing the microphone button on the remote activates the assistant, which responds promptly to basic queries like weather updates and day of the week. More complex commands, such as opening a specific movie, are executed seamlessly.
Finally, let’s talk about expectations. While the projector’s 800P resolution meets general needs, upgrading to 1080P would enhance the viewing experience. With 4K becoming more mainstream, future versions could aim for higher resolutions.
Overall, this projector offers a great blend of features at an affordable price. Its integration of multiple functionalities makes it a solid choice for home entertainment. However, improvements in materials and resolution would elevate it further.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more updates and reviews!
