AR cloud and multi-user experience are becoming one of the hottest areas of augmented reality, and now Google is the latest entity to support these emerging branches of AR.

Now, GV (formerly known as Google Ventures), an investment arm of Google's parent company Alphabet, has invested in AR cloud startup Blue Vision, which was led by Google Ventures for a total of $14.5 million.

Blue Vision Labs has been developing its own technology since its inception in 2011, but now they are finally beginning to introduce specific information about the product. The announcement of the news from this startup will stand out from the invisible R&D model and begin to provide early access to the SDK for its Blue Vision AR cloud platform on Thursday.

Blue Vision Labs aims to implement an "online AR", which means that multiple smartphone users can simultaneously experience the same augmented reality environment. Or we can understand it as the AR game "Pokemon Go" in a multi-user scenario.

Blue Vision's reliance on AR clouds depends on computer vision. The company plans to store frequently updated city AR maps on its servers, and then use the service's application to get "cm precision" location information based on the device's camera's visual data.

With such high location accuracy, application developers can imagine anchoring content that multiple users can see in the same place. This will make multi-player games, AR navigation and shared social AR experiences easier.

Blue Vision joins location services company Mapbox and startup 6D.ai to provide a service that promotes a multi-user AR experience. Similarly, NianTIc, the producer of Pokémon GO, also plans to offer multi-player services to the game through the recently acquired Escher Reality.

Unlike current AR applications, this demo tells us how online AR environments are suitable for multi-user scenarios across different devices. Blue Vision Labs does not develop its own applications for online AR technology. What they are doing is working with developers to empower developers to implement online AR.
