AUO delays mass production of AMOLED panels to the third quarter

AU Optronics said that the company originally planned to mass-produce small and medium-sized AM OLED panels from the second quarter of this year, but delayed the plan to the third quarter due to technical problems.
According to informed sources in the industry, AUO is trial production of small and medium-sized AMOLED panels in its 3.5G production plant, but the product qualification rate is less than 20%. According to people familiar with the matter, this is the main reason for AUO to delay the mass production of AMOLED panels.
Informed sources pointed out that AU Optronics has received an order for HTC’s 4.3-inch AMOLED panel and may receive orders from Nokia in the future.
The monthly design capacity of AMOLED panels of AU Optronics 3.5G production plant is 8000 glass substrates. In addition, AUO's 4.5G manufacturing facility in Singapore has begun to produce AMOLED panels, with a monthly capacity of 15,000 glass substrates in the second quarter.
The 5.5G production plant of Samsung Mobile Display has begun to produce AMOLED panels, and BOE Technology is also establishing a 5.5G AMOLED production line. According to people familiar with the matter, AUO has evaluated the feasibility of establishing a 5.5G AMOLED production line, but the results of its evaluation are not feasible.
