Dual-purpose drive circuit design

1 Introduction

Illumination enabled by the failure of normal lighting power supply is called emergency lighting. Emergency lighting, including standby lighting, evacuation lighting and safety lighting, is an important part of the building's security system. In an emergency, emergency lighting is necessary to ensure the safety of personnel and the smooth progress of fire rescue work [1]. At present, the fire emergency lights used in China are produced according to the national standard "Fire Emergency Lights" (GB 17945-2000). The regulations on the performance of the lamps are: the emergency working time is not less than 90min, and the luminous flux during emergency lighting should not be low. 70% of the luminous flux of the source at rated voltage. However, in order to control the cost and the volume of the lamp, some emergency lighting fixtures are difficult to meet the requirements of the above two indicators, and the energy-saving, long-life, environmentally-friendly LED as the illumination source to design the emergency lighting fixtures will be able to meet the standard requirements. This paper introduces the development status and main technical standards of emergency lighting, and analyzes the advantages of using LED as the light source of emergency lighting. On this basis, an LED driving circuit can be designed for daily lighting and emergency lighting.

2 Lighting emergency dual-purpose drive overall design

2.1 The basic principle of LED lighting emergency drive circuit


The LED lighting emergency driving circuit designed in this paper is proposed in the context of the rapid development of the current LED industry and the state advocates “low carbon energy saving”. High-brightness white LEDs are used instead of traditional light sources to realize daily lighting to achieve energy saving and emission reduction. The universal alternating current is converted into a voltage by a DC/DC converter, and a fixed direct current is used to drive the LED. The innovation of this circuit is to increase the battery and the corresponding driving circuit on the basis of realizing the daily illumination of the LED. The system can automatically switch to the emergency lighting when the universal alternating current is abnormal.

2.2 Advantages and characteristics

In most places where fire emergency lighting is installed, general lighting is still required, and the fire emergency lighting only works when the power is cut off or the power is cut off. The function is single, and the lighting resource configuration is repeated. Therefore, designing an LED lighting emergency dual-purpose driving circuit that can achieve both general illumination and emergency lighting requirements will optimize the configuration of lighting fixtures [4].

The use of LEDs as illumination sources to design lighting emergency luminaires is quite different from traditional light sources. The traditional light source is directly driven by alternating current. In the emergency lighting mode, the direct current output from the battery needs to be converted into alternating current. The driving mode of the LED is low-voltage constant current driving. Therefore, AC/DC conversion is required when using the mains driving.

The main circuit of the equipment is the full bridge controlled circuit and the trigger circuit is the programmable integrated circuit. The phase-shifting, fixed width and modulation of the pulse are all digitized, and it does not need any adjustment for the section of the trigger. It has the features of high reliability, high pulse symmetry, strong anti-interference ability, quick reaction, as well as the advantages of no heat-generating, constant current, energy-saving which is compared with the discharge with the electrical resistance.
