Morning news on March 4, according to Taiwan media reports, AUO's board of directors yesterday (3) passed the establishment of a panel factory to the mainland, the capital amount does not exceed 1.2 billion US dollars. It is expected that 80% of AUO's 7.5-generation factory will settle in Kunshan and will remain resilient for the possibility of building an 8.5-generation plant in the future.
AUO said yesterday that after the board of directors set up the 7.5-generation front panel factory through the mainland, these documents will be sorted out in the past few days and sent to the Ministry of Economic Affairs for review. As for the location of the factory, AUO said it will settle in East China. After the launch of the AUO board of directors, it was also the first company to announce the start of the operation after the government opened a new wave of landings and panel makers.
It is understood that AUO tentatively has a capital of less than 1.2 billion U.S. dollars, about NT$38.618 billion. However, if a 7.5-generation plant is to be built and the cost of land and buildings is deducted, the total investment will exceed 80 billion. Yuan, the Kunshan municipal government may come up with more than 40 billion yuan to build a factory. The 7.5-generation will be Taiwan's first panel factory produced in the mainland, which has a pointer to the looping of the mainland LCD TV market.
Panel makers pointed out that AUO's base camp in East China is Suzhou, and a panel rear module (LCM) plant was set up in Suzhou. Both Suzhou and Kunshan are actively wooing. The AUA 7.5-generation factory has the highest voice in the Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone. Mainly the previous factory plan in Kunshan, has been approved by the Chinese mainland State Council.
The equipment manufacturer said that since the Executive Yuan required the operators to reduce their production to the mainland for a generation, AUO will definitely set up a 7.5-generation factory in the mainland. However, AUO still has plans for more than ten generations of factories in Changhua Erlin. Once the ten-generation plants are mass-produced, they will be eligible to build 8.5-generation plants on the mainland. Therefore, AUO is also planning. At present, the AUO Zhongke factory area has a Gemini satellite factory with 7.5 generations and 8.5 generations. It shows that AUO is no stranger to the 7.5- and 8.5-generation joint factories.
It is understood that the AUO mainland construction personnel have already visited the mainland to explore the terrain. The personnel of the mainland factory have been assigned to the position. The Kunshan plant area, which may be settled, is still in the land preparation, and the relevant factory equipment orders have not been given to the equipment manufacturers.
The mainland will become the world's largest LCD TV market this year or next, attracting global panel manufacturers to set up factories. Once the 42-inch and 46-inch TV panels produced by AUO 7.5-generation factory can supply the mainland local market, it will help to increase AUO's market share in mainland TV panels. With the market's callback, AUO's recent share price performance was flat, down 0.3 yuan yesterday, to close at 33.75 yuan.
