1Gb DDR3 spot price fell below $2

1Gb DDR3 spot price fell below $2 Current state-of-the-art monitoring data from Jibang Technology shows that the price of 1Gb DDR3 chips continues to decline. As of yesterday, the average spot price of 1Gb DDR3 chip has fallen below the $2 mark to close at $1.99, and the price of the same-size eTT chip is $1.74.

If such a downward trend continues, the price of 1Gb DDR3 chips will fall to close to 1 US dollar by the end of the year, which will be lower than the cost price of 1.5-1.7 US dollars for some manufacturers.

Taiwan's memory chip makers Motech, Powerchip Semiconductor, and Regent Electronics have already entered the 63nm process and are planning to move toward 40nm, while South Asia Technology and Huaya Technology are still in the 50nm phase.

In contrast, South Korea’s Samsung has taken a big lead. Samsung has recently started the production of 30nm-level DDR3 chips and accelerated the development of mainstream chip production from 1Gb to 2Gb. According to previous reports, the production cost of a 2Gb DDR3 chip will drop to almost a dollar after using the 30nm process.
