Currently, designers of mobile payment devices must use multiple external ICs for memory expansion, contactless interface and amplification, ISO7816 PHY, magnetic stripe interface, and battery switching, which add board space and authentication time. The latest MAX32560 DeepCover Secure ARM® Cortex®-M3 microcontroller integrates these functions into a single chip, eliminating up to six external chips.

The MAX32560 integrates the security features that meet the stringent PCI-PTS requirements, including active tamper-resistant protection, a scrambled keyboard for PIN operations, and a secure encryption engine. The MAX32560 integrates a large number of analog interfaces to reduce board space, including a full-featured EMV contactless reader interface, two EMV smart card interfaces, a high-performance magnetic stripe reader based on DSP, and a dual channel. The MAX32560 offers 1MB of embedded flash, 384KB of SRAM, and 8KB of secure NVSRAM.
