Letv TV version changed its name to CIBN super movie soon to be online!

On October 17th, LeTV’s official Weibo announcement stated that the LeTV Super TV and LeErbox will be upgraded in the near future and the content will be officially moved to the CIBN Internet TV Integrated Broadcasting and Control platform to bid farewell to the unlicensed era.

According to news released by the official blog, LeTV will upgrade the LeTV Super TV and LeTV box business platform system in the user's home in the near future. The original LeTV TV version will be upgraded to “CIBN Super Video”. After the original massive content is upgraded, it will be moved to the CIBN Internet TV integrated broadcast control platform. The existing user rights will not be affected. Please follow the system prompts to complete the upgrade. About the specific upgrade time, LeTV did not disclose.

According to SARFT regulations, any organization must hold a dual license (“Internet TV Integration Service” license, “Internet TV Content Service” license) or cooperate with a broadcasting and TV company that holds dual licenses before it can develop Internet TV business, such as LeTV. This produces Internet TV and set-top boxes.
At present, there are altogether 7 radio and television enterprises in the country that hold dual licenses, namely Mango TV, Future TV (iCNTV), BesTV, Huada, South Media, China Guangdong Party (CIBN) and Galaxy TV.

As early as August of this year, LeTV announced that it would cooperate with China Radio International, and the SARFT agreed to move all users on LeTV's Internet TV platform to the CIBN platform. After the cooperation, LeTV will provide legal and compliant content services, as well as support for CIBN's connected TV business, content, and broadcast control license resources. While carrying out the relocation work, LeTV's existing Internet TV platform will be closed simultaneously, including Internet set-top boxes and all-in-ones.

Prior to this, LeTV had eaten many "bitters" for licenses. In 2014, SARFT issued a document requiring seven integrated service licensees to stop cooperation with "seriously violating Internet companies" and suffered a continuous fall in shares of LeTV. LeTV issued an announcement admitting the rectification, and suspended cooperation with other licensees outside CCTV. The LeTV box was also removed from the official website and was not sold publicly thereafter.
